Sisters are encouraged to participate in hands-on community service activities that will benefit their local communities. Delta Phi Epsilon manifests a social conscience and a willingness to think in terms of service for the common good. Our sorority aims to develop women who will be contributing members of society through philanthropic and community service experiences.
The Delta Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation
The purposes of the Delta Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation are to make a difference in the lives of Delta Phi Epsilon sisters through opportunity and education, and to encourage our members to act for the greater good through meaningful philanthropy. The foundation was created in 1967, primarily to provide scholarships and special support for sisters in need, but through time has evolved to also provide funding for sorority educational and leadership development programs, like Convention, volunteer training, and our PEARL Program, as well as support for our philanthropies, the national associations of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) and Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD).
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) and The National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD)
Currently, our chapters are the primary source of our support for our philanthropies. Chapters support both education and fundraising for our philanthropies, including the annual ANAD Candlelight Vigil and a number of great fundraising activities. During the 2004-2006 biennium, the Delta Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation and our chapters have provided more than $35,000 in support for both the CFF and ANAD. Since 1967, Delta Phi Epsilon has contributed more than $1 million to research for a cure for cystic fibrosis.
Each year, DphiE chapters across the country hold their annual Deepher Dude contest, where boys compete in different rounds to become our Deepher Dude. All proceeds go directly to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Congratulations to our 2009-2010 Deepher Dude, Tau Kappa Epsilon brother Kevin Day!
Local Community Volunteer and Service
As a local chapter, we have adopted numerous local annual volunteer and community service events such as Freshman Move-In Day, Ashuelot River Clean-Up, Pumpkin Lobotomy, Thanksgiving Basket Drive, The Project U Fashion Show, Recycle-mania, Cans Across Keene, and The Walk A Mile In Her Shoes March. We also donate food baskets, clothes, and everyday items to the Keene Community Kitchen. We volunteer at the local Community Kitchen, and most recently, the Molly Foundation for Diabetes Research.
